South Dakota Bull

This Bluegill measured in at just under 10 3/4 inches and weighed in at 1 pound 9 ounces. This is my biggest bluegill in 3 years and hopefully not my last trophy of the 2009 season. Once again South Dakota proves it can grow Giant Bluegill.

The Winner

This Canadian Lake trout sealed the deal on a bet we had while fishing Lake Trout in Canada. This 8 pounder brought home the bet for "most" trout on the trip. Not the my biggest lake trout but certainly memorable.

First Laker through the Ice

Matt Carlander with a nice Lake of the Woods trout. His first big lake trout through the ice. An experience that will not be his last.

Candian Pike

Matt Grow caught this nice candian pike in deep water while jigging for Lake Tout. This fish was photographed and released.

Whitefish

The only whitefish I have ever caught. These things are fighting machines. Definetly a species I will do some more fishing for. Taken on our trip to Crawfords Camp in Sioux Narrows Ontario.

Personal Best Lake Trout

I caught this Giant Lake Trout on a recent trip to Crawford's Camp in Sioux Narrows Ontario. This is truely a fish of a lifetime for me. It was caught, photographed and released. It fell victim to 5/16 ounce Slender Spoon in Blue and White from Custom Jigs and Spins.

9 Pound 1 ounce Sunset Walleye

My personal best walleye of the 2009 ice season. Caught on our Lake of the Woods year end trip.

Giant Pike

Greg Holthaus caught this giant pike on our recent pike trip. This one was not measured and was immediately released but is Greg's biggest of the season.

Custom Jigs and Spins Gill Pill

My number one lure on the ice this year for GIANT gills is the #12 White/Black Gill Pill!

Shallow Water Gill

Close Up Trout

This is a great shot of a Lake Trout close-up. This 34 inch fish was released after a few photos.

Season Best Pike

This is the best pike of the season for me so far. Caught on 1/28/09 in MN on a recent pike trip. This one measured a little under 40 inches.

13 Inch Perch

This huge perch came out of 55 Feet of water in Canada. When you catch them that deep, you have to eat them because as you can see there was not chance to release it.

Mid Winter Bluegill

A nice Mid Winter Bluegill. This big gill was just under the 10 inch mark. Nice fish on a tough day!

Cole testing two flashers

Cole understands fishing electronics as well as most. So, we both have been sharing duties of testing the Humminbird ICE 55, MarCum LX-5 and the Vexilar FL-20

10 Inch Bluegill

Greg Holthaus with a Trophy Bluegill from Northern MN. This Bluegill topped the coveted 10 inch mark. The Giant fell victim to the #12 Red Glow Diamond Jig from Custom Jigs and Spins.

In Action

It takes good outerwear to be able to kneel for hours on the ice!

Humminbird ICE 55 at work

Bluegill from the weeds using the Humminbird Target Line feature. You can see by the picture the area I am targeting in between the weeds. The Humminbird units excel in shallow weeds.

#10 Gill Pill

#10 Gill Pill in Black/White has been #1 in my book. This has been my #1 Bluegill lure this year on the ice and has yet to let me down!

Diamond Jig

Custom Jigs and Spins Diamond jig. One of my favorites!

Tip-up Pike

A nice Lake Minnewaska Pike caught on a tip-up.

Blizzard Crappie

A good friend of mine, Tom Faber with a 14-inch Crappie from Northern MN during the 1/3/08 Blizzard.

Giant Gill

Blizzard Bluegill taken from deep water in Northern MN.

Gill Pill Crappie

Greg Holthaus took this 13 inch crappie on a #12 Gill Pill in Red Glow from Custom Jigs and Spins. Thats a big crappie on a small hook!
